Have You Ever Heard of Nixoderm?

Nixoderm Cream

Nixoderm has been widely used in many countries such as Colombia, Australia and Malaysia for decades, but in the US it is not so commonly known and can be pretty hard to find. Nixoderm is a topical cream that is used to treat a number of skin conditions such as eczema and of course acne… which is why I am discussing it here!

Many people praise Nixoderm cream very highly as an antidote to pimples, blackheads, spots and other acne related symptoms. It contains salicylic acid, precipitated sulphur and benzoic acid which work together to cleanse pores, remove dead skin cells and stimulate new skin cell growth. Many acne sufferers have also cited Nixoderm as an effective treatment for post acne blemishes.

What is Nixoderm Like?

There are some things to note about using Nixoderm though. It is quite a thick and sticky and does not absorb quickly into the skin. Add this to the fact that it is yellowish in colour (probably due to the sulfur content) and you have a treatment which you certainly wouldn’t wear out socially and something that could stain night clothing or bedsheets. I have also heard that Nixoderm can cause stinging in some… again possibly due to the sulfur. Having said this, many reviews speak very highly of Nixoderm and claim it causes less irritation than benzoyl peroxide based acne treatments.

If you want to try Nixoderm cream, I would advise a small skin test first rather than applying it directly to your acne. Some minor irritation and redness is probably acceptable so long as it subsides relatively quickly. If you do not suffer adverse effects you could try a test on a small area of skin where you have pimples or other acne related symptoms. If your skin reacts badly you should discontinue further Nixoderm use. However, if you suffer no adverse reactions, you may consider using Nixoderm less cautiously.

Disclaimer

You should discuss Nixoderm with your dermatologist or doctor before applying it to your skin. As with all medicines, Nixoderm should be kept out of the reach of children.
